The West Point Society of Columbia, SC was founded in the early 1960’s to serve Academy Graduates and Friends of the Academy throughout the central part of the state known as the “Midlands.” Over the years the dedicated work of many West Point graduates has enabled the Society to become a strong organization with a comprehensive program and growing membership.
Membership in the Society is open to all Graduates and former cadets, Friends of the Academy, and Academy Parents living in the midlands area. We welcome all eligible to join today, free of charge.
As a charitable, nonprofit organization recognized under IRS Code 501(c)(3), all programs and activities are funded by the generous tax-deductible contributions of our membership, corporate contributions and private foundation grants.
We take pride in doing our part to shape the next generation of Army officers. Society members assist the Academy with the identification, recruitment, screening and processing of qualified candidates for admission. On average, members have helped with 8-10 admissions on a yearly basis.
Each spring, the Society presents the West Point Leadership Award to high school juniors exemplifying leadership in our area and throughout South Carolina. These presentations have served to not only increase awareness of West Point as a whole, but also to effectively recruit for potential candidates as many recipients pursue further opportunities to experience West Point and to begin application packets in their senior year.
